"Wisdom Seeker"
The elaborate head dress indicates that this man is a strong spiritual leader. Each ornament adornning it is a gift from a member of the tribe. This high stature brought with it many resposibilities. He seeks wisdom from the heavens represented by the blue face paint, the stars on his chin, and by the moon necklace.

"Rides With Honor"
The American Flag represents his allegiance to the United States. The feathers represent his allegiance to his sovereign nation. The two black stripes on his face represent the merging of two cultures and the challenge to serve both with honor. In American Indian tradition, a warrior and his horse were insparable; they fought together as one. Each in tune with the others spirit.
The overall statement I want to make in this painting is that the warrior will follow the trail of the "white man". He will become his friend, but will not bend his back t to the burdens of the "white man." He will continue to always Ride with Honor.
